AUCKLAND (Pacific Media Centre/Pacific Media Watch): Next month marks 30 years since the bombing of theRainbow Warrior on 10 July 1985.
The Greenpeace flagship, used for campaigning against nuclear testing, was bombed twice and sunk by two French secret agents in the port of Auckland.
To mark the occasion, about 40 journalism and television students from Auckland University of Technology embarked on a story-telling project last month.
This bulletin compiles 12 stories by the student TV journalists, led by lecturer Danni Mulrennan, ranging from the last resting place in Matauri Bay to current campaigns such as against deep-sea oil drilling, educating the next generation, the book industry, photojournalists, and the campaigners of the future.
The project stories are being uploaded to a collaborative Eyes of Fire microsite linked to a new book by Pacific Media Centre director professor David Robie in a partnership between the PMC; AUT television and screen writing and journalism majors; and Little Island Press.
