Views Sought on Use of Part of Former Corstorphine School

Dunedin (Monday, 22 June 2015) - A questionnaire seeking community views on the future use and development of the lower section of the former Corstorphine School site has been released by the Dunedin City Council.

The DCC purchased the lower half of the site last year in response to community demand for maintaining the public pathways through and around the property.

Manager City Property Kevin Taylor says, “Since that purchase, the DCC has been looking at different options for how to best use the multi-level site. We want to know what the community thinks so together we can successfully find the best fit.”

The questionnaire proposes three options. These are:

• leave the site as green space

• develop the land into social or affordable housing

• the choice of the Corstorphine community – whether there is another purpose for the site that could benefit this community.

All Dunedin residents are welcome to provide their views. The questionnaire has been mailed to an estimated 580 residents living near the former school site. It is also available online at www.dunedin.govt.nz/consultation.

The closing date for responses is 9 July. Mailed questionnaires can be returned by free post.
