Renaming the region’s airport Hawke’s Bay Airport
Ahuriri is the preferred option of the Hastings District
Council.
The council today (June 26) considered a motion
asking that the name be changed from Hawke’s Bay Airport
to Ahuriri Hawke’s Bay Airport, as recommended by the
airport’s board of directors following a request by local
hapu grouping Manu Ahuriri.
Councillors for the most part
agreed that Manu Ahuriri should be recognised, but were
concerned that leading the name with Ahuriri would confuse
travellers.
