New ECT Trustees Appointed

New ECT Trustees Appointed

Two new trustees were appointed to the Eastland Community Trust Board at the full meeting of Council yesterday.

Paul Reynolds and Matanuku Mahuika were selected to fill the vacancies being sought after two trustees were retired by rotation.

Mr Reynolds, retired from public service as the former Chief Executive for the Ministry for the Environment and returned to Gisborne. He says he wants to use those skills to contribute back to the Gisborne community.

Matanuku Mahuika a lawyer of 20 years says he is committed to continued growth and development in the region.

The positions were advertised nation-wide in May seeking applicants who not only had business acumen but could represent the community.

14 applications were received including the two retiring trustees seeking reappointment.

Council has the role of selecting and appointing Trustees to ECT as set out by the Trust Deed.

Mayor Meng Foon is also a trustee by the Trust Deed, but was not party to process.

He thanks the previous trustees for their time and experience and welcomes the new members.

“I look forward to working with them.”
