Another blockbuster Petone Winter Carnival planned

It’s only one month until Petone Winter Carnival on Saturday 1 August and planning is well underway for the best day out this winter.

Favourite events like the Mitre 10 MEGA Polar Plunge, 13 rides, 16 market stalls, 30 food stalls, entertainment, bands, Hutt City Rotary fire sculptures and the Pelorus Trust Fire Show are back again for 2015.

Lots of new activities are also in the works. This year parents will find most of the activities, rides and entertainment for young children (as well as toilets) in one place at the west end of the Carnival, which will allow easy, unobstructed access to and from the area.

A free sports zone on the beach, model plane displays and demonstrations, sand art and driftwood sculptures and artists’ in residence area will add to the number of free activities at the Carnival.

People will be able to buy ride cards ahead of the Carnival on 29-31 July at Petone Settlers Museum, which will help them avoid the queues on the day.

This year, once the sun sets, there will be braziers set up on Petone Beach and marshmallows on sticks for people to toast. As always, the Carnival ends with the spectacular Pelorus Trust Fire Show off Petone Wharf.

Petone Winter Carnival is Hutt City Council’s biggest event of the year. Although it’s run in the middle of winter it attracts about 50,000 people and is well known for its range of activities at affordable prices.

The Carnival Facebook page at www.facebook.com/petonecarnival<http://www.facebook.com/petonecarnival> is very active in the lead up and a great place to get inspiration or ask questions about the event. Other information is online at www.petonecarnival.co.nz<http://www.petonecarnival.co.nz>
