Go the Highlanders!

Go the Highlanders!

Dunedin (Wednesday, 1 July 2015) – There will be plenty of opportunities to cheer on the Highlanders on Saturday night.

As well as the Super Rugby final being screened at bars and pubs, Dunedin families can support their home team while watching the match live at the Dunedin Town Hall.

Dunedin City Council Community Events Co-ordinator Marilyn Anderson says, “This is a wonderful opportunity to get together with other fans and really back our boys on the big night!”

Doors to the free Family Fanzone at the Town Hall open at 5.30pm, with the match to start at 7.30pm. This is an alcohol-free event.

“Come dressed in your blue and gold, grab some snacks, bring your picnic blanket, deck chair or bean bag, get your face painted and support your home team.”

Following the excitement of Saturday night, regardless of the outcome of the match, residents can welcome the team at the Dunedin International Airport when they return to the city at 10.50am on Sunday. The King’s and Queen’s High Schools’ Kapa Haka group, He Waka Kotuia, will greet the team on arrival.

People who wish to see the Highlanders can take advantage of free parking at the Airport by collecting a car park ticket at the Customer Services desk that will let them leave the car park free of charge.
