take the train to the game tomorrow night!
Wellington City Council, Greater
Wellington Regional Council and the NZ Transport Agency are
urging people to plan ahead for travel to the Hurricanes v
Highlanders final. This game is a sellout so get there early
- you don’t want to miss a minute of the final!
Extra train services will be running on the Johnsonville, Kapiti and Hutt Valley lines after the event to help the expected crowds get home.Wellington event tickets, which are valid for two trips on any event day, will be available. See www.metlink.og.nz for timetable and ticketing information.
Additional Airport Flyer (Route 91) services will be operating between 3:50pm and 5pm from Wellington Airport to Wellington Railway Station to accommodate the extra flights that have been scheduled for this game.
Additional capacity on Mana and Go Wellington services will be operating after the match on demand and where necessary from Lambton Interchange (Wellington Railway Station) Bus Stops.
The stadium shuttle will be operating between Courtenay Place and Westpac Stadium pre and post-match. Details of this service can be found at www.westpacstadium.co.nz/getting-here/
A special harbour ferry service will leave Queens Wharf at 10pm for Days Bay, to take people home from the game.
If you do drive, be aware that you’re unlikely to be able to park in your usual match-day spot, due to the popularity of the game, and allow at least 30 minutes to walk from your car to the stadium.
Bunny Street will be open for taxi and public drop off at the railway station only. Thorndon Quay and Featherston Street to Whitmore Street will be closed for about 30 minutes after the match.
There will be no drop-off or pick-ups at the Stadium so plan ahead if you’re getting a lift to the game. You can drop off in Hinemoa Street by CentrePort, Thorndon Quay by the Thorndon spiral to the Fran Wilde walk. Also consider carpooling with your friends and neighbours.
