Horowhenua District Council donates $15,000 to Disaster Relief Fund

Horowhenua District Council is donating $15,000 to the Manawatu-Wanganui Regional Disaster Relief Fund to help towards flood recovery in the region.

The financial contribution follows the help provided by a number of Council staff who travelled to assist Wanganui District Council staff during the week following the floods in June.

Applications to the Disaster Relief Fund can be made by any individuals, home owners or householders, farmers or growers, small businesses or non-profit organisations who suffered loss or incurred costs as a result of the June 2015 floods. Applications will be considered in relationship to other requests and available funds. The current funding round will close on Friday 24 July 2015.

In Horowhenua, enquiries regarding application should be made to Horowhenua District Council on 06 366 0999 or enquiries@horowhenua.govt.nz

Also, anyone wishing to make a donation to the Manawatu-Wanganui Disaster Relief Fund can do so by depositing funds into the Trust's Westpac bank account - 030-728-0411355-00.

This Trust was formed in response to the 2004 floods and Trustees represent all councils in the region. This fund helps councils and relief agencies target funds where they are most needed.
