Eastland Network brings in extra crews to help restore power
Eastland Network has brought in additional line mechanics and faultmen to join its own teams in reconnecting power supply to customers who have lost electricity as a result of heavy snowfall and lightning over the past two days.
Up to 300 ICPs (individual connection points) in rural areas near Gisborne, Wairoa and on the East Coast were still without supply at 9am this morning.
Eastland Network general manager Brent Stewart said locally based field crews had been supplemented with additional teams from the Bay of Plenty, Napier and Wellington.
“In some areas, progress is being hampered by access issues, with many roads still closed and weather conditions restricting helicopter use,” he said.
The sun is shining across many parts of the region this morning, and Mr Stewart said teams would continue to work to restore power as quickly as possible. He thanked residents for their patience and also reminded everyone in the region to continue to treat all power lines as live at all times.
“Please call 0800 206 207 to report any faults or fallen power lines.”
