Caution on rural roads

Tairawhiti Roads and contractors will be working directly with Eastland Network tonight and over the next few days to gain access to areas still without power.

Tiniroto Road will be closed from 6:00pm tonight until 8:00am tomorrow morning between Donneraile Park turn off and Ruakaka Road at Tiniroto Tavern.

Civil Defence Emergency Manager Louise Bennett says in some places trees and snow are still causing a very narrow carriage ways. We also anticipate a bit of ice."

Caution is still advised for anyone travelling on rural roads and highways in the the area as there will still be ice in many of the sheltered areas for days to come.
