Network summary for week ending 12 July 2015

Vector’s Electric Vehicle charger has been at almost full capacity since it was installed. To celebrate this success, the company has decided to reward the owner of the 100th car on-charge a choice of double tickets to Vector Arena to see either Robbie Williams or Maroon 5. If you’re charging your car at Vector’s Carlton Gore Road office, be sure to register at reception. You’ll get a free coffee voucher and a free charge on us, plus you could win tickets to a fantastic concert at Vector Arena.
Electricity

The cause of lines sparking in Herald Island during the week was found to be trees touching the power lines. Our contractors attended and made the site safe, then Treescape removed the foliage.

Crews isolated supply to building fires in Waiatarua, Highland Park, East Tamaki, Remuera and Orewa.

Multiple car v pole incidents kept our crews busy during the week. Poles had to be replaced after events in Sandringham and Takanini. In Three Kings, our crews had to wait for Chorus to complete repairs before they could reinstate a Vector asset damaged in an incident there. Other car v pole incidents took place in Mt Roskill, Mangawhai, Blockhouse Bay and Birkdale.

Gas

We isolated gas supply to an address in Mangere during the week, when a safety check was carried out. The customer was referred to a gas fitter by our service provider.

Damage was isolated to two incidents of third party damage during the week, in Devonport and Hillsborough.

Projects

Vector has just completed a gas project at Harrisville, near Auckland’s Bombay Hills, to support the commercial growth in the area. A new transmission gas delivery point has been installed and around 300 metres of pipeline laid to connect the existing distribution network to the new delivery point. This added supply capacity will support high-usage customers in the area who are particularly focussed on agriculture.

Shorts

• Vector owns over 18,000 kilometres of overhead and underground lines in the greater Auckland area, and 12,752 of gas pipe lines, almost half of which supply gas to Auckland.

• Vector, proud sponsor of the Arena.
