Start thinking now about Upper Hutt’s Santa Parade

Due to the popularity of last year’s Santa Parade and Expressions Christmas event, Upper Hutt City Council has announced the date for the 2015 parade to assist community groups and businesses with their planning.

UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 22 JUL 2015— An invitation is extended to all businesses and community groups operating in Upper Hutt to join the 2015 Upper Hutt Santa Parade. Upper Hutt residents continue to turn out in force to enjoy this much-loved and growing community event. Mark the calendar and get the committee planning to enter a ‘Kiwiana Christmas’ float in this year’s Santa Parade. There is a $1,000 dollar prize for the float that best reflects the theme of Kiwiana Christmas.

The parade is set to take place on Sunday 6 December, commencing at 3.00 pm.

Further details and online registrations will be available on Upper Hutt City Council’s website in mid-October. Now is the time to get those kiwiana creative ideas flowing and put the ideas to your school, club or boss!

For the first time last year, the parade took place on a Sunday and a post-parade event was held at Expressions Whirinaki Arts and Entertainment Centre. Both were a resounding success and will be repeated in 2015. Join Santa after the parade for a Kiwiana Christmas at Expressions from 3.00 – 6.00 pm. Enter a classic Aotearoa world filled with summer fun, live music, Christmas circus acts, holiday crafts, and other yuletide treats, and have your photo taken with Santa. There will be loads of activities for the whole family—all for free.

The Upper Hutt Santa Parade is organised by Upper Hutt City Council and Expressions Whirinaki Arts and Entertainment Centre, and is promoted by the Upper Hutt Leader.

Entering a float in the Parade is free, but groups are required to register.
