Otago Mums to celebrate World Breast Feeding Week

Otago Mums to celebrate World Breast Feeding Week on Friday 31 July

The Otago Breastfeeding Network calls on Dunedin Mums to make this year’s Big Latch On the biggest ever. “We are inviting Mums to come along with their friends and whanau to celebrate breastfeeding, enjoy a cup of coffee and a chat and to learn more about breastfeeding” said Denise Ives, a member of the Network.

The Big Latch On is an event where mothers breastfeed their children around the globe at the same time in an array of settings to celebrate and normalise breastfeeding.
- In Oamaru it will take place at 9.30am, at Plunket on Severn St, Oamaru (opposite the police station).
- In Balclutha it will take place at 10am, at the Balclutha Parent Centre, 6 John Street, Balclutha.
- In Dunedin the Big Latch On will take place at 9.45am on Friday at the end of the lower level food court in the Meridian Mall (a proud BURP venue). The official count takes place at 10.30am.

The Big Latch On this Friday 31st July is part of the Otago and Southland World Breastfeeding Week celebration. The theme for World Breastfeeding Week this year is “Breastfeeding & Work: Let’s Make it Work” which emphasises the importance of protecting, promoting and supporting breastfeeding in the workplace.
