Identity Sought - Mt Victoria Indecent Assault

Wellington Police are asking members of the public to help identify a man who allegedly indecently assaulted a 23 year old woman in Mt Victoria at about 6.00 pm on Saturday the 18th July 2015. The woman travelled to Courtenay Place just prior to 6.00 pm on the Number 14 bus from Wilton.

She walked along Courtenay Place before crossing Cambridge and Kent Terraces onto Majoribanks Street. Near the intersection of Majoribanks and Brougham Street she was approached by a man who has followed her along Brougham Street for a short distance before indecently assaulting her. After the assault the man has run off back towards Majoribanks Street. Detective Jon Harlen of the Wellington CIB says: "Police were notified immediately after the assault and have reviewed CCTV footage from around the area” "Police want to identify a man viewed within this footage who may be able to assist with our enquiries.

He was wearing a light coloured hoodie underneath a dark jacket, dark coloured pants and black shoes with white soles.

We appeal to any one that may have been around that area at the time and saw a person matching this description to contact Police," says Detective Harlen. The man is described as having dark coloured skin, being in his early 20s, skinny build, approx 170 cm tall with short dark hair.
