Police Seek Information on Indecent Assault in Otara

Police are appealing for information from the public regarding an indecent assault which was carried out earlier this month.

The 21-year-old female victim was walking to a friend’s house in Otara on Saturday 18 July 2015 at around 3:30pm.

As she walked through the Rongomai Reserve over the footbridge, she was grabbed by a male who indecently assaulted and punched her.

A struggle followed and the victim managed to get away.

The offender fled from the scene on foot onto Preston Road, before getting into a metallic orange late model Holden vehicle.

He drove off along Preston Road towards East Tamaki.

The offender is described as Polynesian, 6ft tall and of solid build with short black hair and faded scars on his face.

He was wearing a black long-sleeved hoody with a silver or white Adidas logo on the front and black pants.

Police want to speak with anyone who may have been in the area at the time and saw anything that may assist Police with this investigation.

You can contact Detective Sergeant John Love with information on 09 250 3013 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
