SCIRT traffic update, week starting Monday, 3 August, 2015

Central city update

Durham St is down to two lanes near the Moorhouse Ave intersection for about three weeks. Expect delays in this area. Use alternative routes if possible, such as Antigua St, Barbadoes St or Colombo St.

• The U-turn bays under the Moorhouse Ave overbridge are closed. This affects traffic using the turning bays to access the Harvey Norman Centre or nearby supermarkets. Follow the signs to reach these businesses, which remain open.

Manchester St will continue to be one-way northbound between Gloucester St and Worcester St. There will be no access to Manchester St from Worcester St, follow detours.

Montreal St is down to one lane between Moorhouse Ave and St David St until Friday 8 August.

Hereford St, between Colombo St and Manchester St will continue to be one-way eastbound for the week.

• There will be lane reductions in the Sydenham end of Colombo St. Please be mindful of cyclists and pedestrians and follow the signage.

• Sections of Bealey Ave will have temporary lane closures - between Springfield Rd and Durham St, and between Bishop St and Packe St - for about three weeks. There will be no exit from Madras St onto Bealey Ave. Southbound traffic on Madras St will detour.

Northbound: Montreal St and Fitzgerald Ave

Southbound: Barbadoes St and Fitzgerald Ave

Eastbound: Salisbury St and Tuam St

Westbound: Moorhouse Ave, Kilmore St and St Asaph St

Linwood - Avonside Drive

Avonside Dr is one-way westbound, between Stanmore Rd and Fitzgerald Ave, for about a week. Please use other routes. Follow the detours for traffic and pedestrians.

Aranui/Wainoni

See the latest Aranui map showing bus routes and detours.

Work is underway to install the new vacuum wastewater mainline along a section of Hampshire St and Portsmouth St with road closures in place for about three months. Please be aware of changes to the traffic set up, take care and drive to the conditions.

• A progressive road closure will be in place along Sandown Cres, for about eight weeks, to install the vacuum wastewater mainline pipe.

• Work is underway in Bickerton St at the intersection of Wainoni Rd, with no exit onto Wainoni Rd for about a week.

Pages Rd is one-way, city-bound only, between Shuttle Dr and Breezes Rd. If you are heading towards Aranui or New Brighton using Pages Rd, please use Ottawa Rd to divert onto Wainoni Rd.

Shortland St is one-way southbound only between Wainoni Rd and Tahuna St. This one-way will be in place until Pages Rd (between Shuttle Dr and Breezes Rd) returns to two-way traffic. A no-left-turn is also in place on Tahuna Street.

Breezes Rd will continue to be one-way between Wainoni Rd and Pages Rd. Please watch for pedestrians and cyclists. There are two schools on Breezes Rd and other businesses with people coming and going. Thanks to everyone for supporting local businesses affected by the work.

• Road repairs in Marlow Rd and Doreen St with one-ways in place.

Mattingley St is one-way (entry from Portchester St, exit onto Carisbrooke St) for about two weeks.

Yarmouth Cres is one-way southbound (travelling towards Rowan Ave) for about five weeks.

Ventnor Cres is one-way for about seven weeks.

Basingstoke St -

1. Progressive road closures east of Bournemouth Cres, heading towards Hampshire St for about two weeks.

2. A one-way system is in place between Wimbourne Cres entrances. Please be aware of changed traffic conditions.

Work in other suburbs

Spreydon & Somerfield – Barrington St

SCIRT is repairing earthquake damage to roads, footpaths, kerb and channel in Spreydon and Somerfield. This work will take about two more weeks to finish, subject to weather. Traffic will be one-way northbound only on Barrington St, with southbound traffic detouring along Milton St. Buses that usually travel down Barrington St to Rose St will be diverted down Frankleigh, through to Lyttelton then onto Rose St.

Linwood

Avonside Dr is closed to eastbound traffic, between Fitzgerald Ave and Stanmore Rd, for one more week. Please follow the detour signs for traffic and pedestrians.

Worcester St continues to be one-way southbound, between Linwood Ave and Woodham Rd.

• Part of Jollie St will be closed until the end of August. One side of the street is open for pedestrians. Please follow the signs.

Linwood Ave pipe-lining work at night means shoulder closures, lane reductions and turning restrictions over the next three months near the Buckleys Rd/Aldwins Rd intersection. Watch for changing traffic conditions and signage.

Rowcliffe Cres (between Woodham Rd and number 7 Rowcliffe Cres) is closed for about a week. The entrances from Rowcliffe Cres to Linwood North School will be closed. Please follow the traffic detours.

Burwood

Lake Terrace Rd is closed between New Brighton Rd and De Ville Pl, including the Burwood Rd intersection, until mid-August. Please follow detour signs.

New Brighton Rd is closed between Avondale Rd and Stour Dr, for another week. Please follow detour signs.

Parklands

A road closure will be in place at the intersection of Radiata Ave and Ingrid St for about two weeks. Follow the detour.

Edgeware – Dudley St & Hills Rd

Dudley St will be closed next to the Dudley St/Hills Rd intersection for up to a week, for water well installation. Once this is complete, Dudley St will return to exit only onto Hills Rd, and a no right turn onto Hills Rd. Look out for changed traffic conditions.

The one-way system for northbound traffic on Hills Rd (between Guild St and Dudley St) continues. A detour is in place for southbound traffic on Hills Rd, which now takes traffic all the way to North Avon Rd. Unexpected poor site conditions have delayed the program of work and the completion date is now September.

Addington – Hazeldean Rd

Hazeldean Rd is one-way between Lincoln Rd and Grove Rd eastbound (towards Grove Rd). SCIRT had to return to this area due to finding further damage. Traffic heading west will detour down Harman St.

Hillmorton – Lincoln Rd

Lincoln Rd wastewater repairs are under way between Annex Rd and Domain Tce for about a week. Expect delays.

Richmond – Chrystal St

Part of Chrystal St is one-way southbound with work continuing until September. As work progresses two-way traffic will be reinstated when possible.

Sumner - Esplanade

A road closure will be in place near 64 Esplanade from Friday for around a week for storm water repairs. Follow the detour signs.

Woolston

• Manning Pl is one-way southbound for about two weeks. Please follow detour.

• Smith St between Bray St and Ferry Rd is closed until October. Traffic on Matlock St will be unable to enter or exit Smith St, please use Mackworth St.

Redcliffs - Main Rd

Main Rd, between Beachville Rd and Taupata St, will be one-way Sumner bound, for about three weeks. City-bound traffic detours via Augusta St, James St and Taupata St. Access to the Redcliffs shops between Augusta St and Taupata St will be via the one-way system. There will be a 30km/h speed limit in place past the worksite and on detour routes.
