City Council welcomes new Cuba Central education campus
Wellington City Council’s
Economic Growth Committee Chair, Councillor Jo Coughlan, has
welcomed today’s ‘ground-breaking’ ceremony marking
the start of construction on the new Cuba Central
campus.
The $70 million development started today with the ceremony led by Te Āti Awa and attended by members of the film, creative and performing arts sector; central and local government; designers, producers, digital technologists and special effects makeup artists and creators.
Cr Coughlan says the campus, once completed, will provide a significant economic boost to Wellington and the region and will enhance the region’s creative industries.
“It will also bring great extra energy to the central city and the Cuba-Victoria area. The City Council has just completed a multi-million dollar upgrade of Victoria Street – and one of the drivers was to complement the new campus with attractive surroundings.”
