Inquiries continuing following house fire in Linwood

Inquiries continuing following house fire in Linwood

Canterbury Police have spoken to a number of people including the occupants and neighbours of a residential property in Linwood as part of an ongoing investigation into a fire at the address yesterday afternoon (18 August 2015).

Detective Sergeant Dave Parker says the two people in the property at the time of the fire were taken to Christchurch Hospital. “A female in her 20’s has since been discharged while the other female in her late 30’s remains in a critical condition and has been transferred to a specialist burns unit in Auckland.”

“Canterbury Police and the Fire Service completed a scene examination this morning as part of an ongoing investigation to determine the cause of the fire. Indications are that the fire was contained within one room in the property. At this time Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to this incident” explained Detective Sergeant Parker.

Unfortunately due to operational commitments Detective Sergeant Parker is not available for any media interviews.
