Man charged after search warrant yesterday

A 26 year-old male has appeared in court this morning after a search warrant was conducted by Dunedin CIB, with the assistance of AOS, in Mornington yesterday.

The male has been charged with aggravated robbery, robbery, and assault with a weapon.

The charge of aggravated robbery is in relation to an incident in the Octagon last Thursday, 20 August 2015 during which the victim’s cellphone and cigarettes were taken.

Police would like to again reassure members of the Mornington area that the armed response yesterday was a precautionary measure, and they should not be concerned.

Police are not looking for anyone else at the address in relation to the search warrant or the incident last week, and we’re grateful for the co-operation and assistance provided by the occupants of the house during yesterday’s response.
