Aggravated Robbery - Christchurch - Canterbury

At about 10.55pm on Saturday 29 August 2015 two males entered the Woolston Liquor Store on Ferry Road, Woolston, Christchurch.

Both males picked up large bottles of alcohol and tried to leave the store without paying.

They were stopped by the attendant who asked them to put the bottles back and leave the store.

They refused and there was a brief struggle between the attendant and one of the males as they wrestled over a bottle of alcohol.

When the males again refused to return the bottles they were still holding the attendant began calling the Police.

One of the males shoved the attendant and tried to wrestle the telephone from him to prevent him calling Police.

At this stage the other male has struck the attendant over the head with a bottle of alcohol causing it to smash.

Both males have each struck the attendant again smashing bottles over his head.

The attendant, a customer in the liquor store at the time and another attendant have all run to hide in a store room at the rear of the store.

One of the males has thrown two further bottles of alcohol in their direction.

They have smashed but not struck anyone.

The males have grabbed several bottles of alcohol before leaving in a stolen getaway car.

A 15 year old male has been arrested and charged with Aggravated Robbery.

Police are speaking with a 16 year old male and further arrests and charges are expected.

Police would like to speak with the customer who was in the liquor store at the time of the robbery.
