Director appointed to WRC Holdings

Director appointed to WRC Holdings

Wellington solicitor and business executive, Samantha Sharif, has been appointed as external director for WRC Holdings Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC).

Ms Sharif is CEO of Aviation New Zealand and has held various directorships including ASPEQ Ltd, Positively Wellington Venues and Aviation New Zealand, and from 2012 to 2014 was an independent member of the Wellington Regional Strategy Committee.

Chair of GWRC, Chris Laidlaw, describes Ms Sharif as a solicitor with distinguished academic qualifications and broad commercial experience.

“Samantha offers a balance of commercial, infrastructure and legal expertise, with an international perspective especially through her current involvement in the aviation industry. She also has local government knowledge through her previous membership of the Regional Strategy Committee and WCC’s venues company”.

Ms Sharif joins Peter Blades as the two external directors appointed to WRC Holdings Ltd and to the subsidiary companies Port Investments Ltd, Pringle House Ltd and Greater Wellington Rail Ltd. GWRC is represented on WRC Holdings Ltd by Cr Fran Wilde, who chairs the group, and Crs Barbara Donaldson, Prue Lamason and Paul Swain.

Fran Wilde said Ms Sharif’s expertise in a highly-regulated transport area would be very helpful, particularly for Greater Wellington Rail Ltd
