Public invited to have their say on Upper Waikato issues

Members of the public with an interest in the Upper Waikato River catchment are being invited to have their say on a regular basis.

The local Upper Waikato Catchment Committee, which includes regional councillors and community representatives, has decided each of its meetings will start with a half hour open forum.

“If you’ve got something to say about erosion, plant and animal pests or biodiversity in the upper Waikato, or ideas for improving the health of the local environment, join our catchment committee meeting,” said Upper Waikato/Taupo manager Anne McLeod.

“We want people living in the upper Waikato to come and share their ideas and concerns

with us.”

The Upper Waikato catchment stretches from Lake Karapiro in the north to the Lake Taupō control gates in the south, and from the Kaingaroa Plateau in the east to the Pureora and Rangitoto ranges in the west.

Meetings are held quarterly and the next meeting of the Upper Waikato Catchment Committee is scheduled for9am on Wednesday 23 September at the Conference Rooms at the Motorsport Park on Off Road Highway, Taupō

People coming for the public forum are welcome to stay and observe the rest of the meeting which is due to run from 9.30am-12pm.
