More than 150 motorbikes stolen in one night from Kelston warehouse

Waitakere Police are investigating the theft of more than 150 motorbikes from a warehouse on Sunday night/early Monday morning.

The bikes were being stored in a warehouse in Cartwright Road, Kelston and were packaged in cardboard boxes on a pallet.

Police believe that the offender/s tampered with the alarm and managed to gain entry into the warehouse.

They hot-wired a forklift that was inside the warehouse and removed the following items; (pictures of each attached)

-30 V-Sport Eurorider Moped Scooters.

Coloured red & white and black & white, each valued at $1500.00

-15 Presto 50cc Moped Scooters.

Coloured red or cream or aqua, each valued at $2000.00

-12 Pantera Moped Scooters.

Coloured red & white or blue & white, each valued at $2500.00

-109 Mini Quad bikes (child-sized).

Coloured red and white, each valued at around $500.00

-75 x 4-litre containers of Sinteck Motor Oil.

The total value of the stolen motorbikes is $159 500.

A white 2003 Mitsubishi Triton Ute (rego BSA579) was also stolen.

“It may have taken up to six hours for the thieves to load up whatever vehicles they’ve used to steal the bikes.

We need to hear from anyone who was in the Cartwright Road area between 9 o’clock Sunday night and 4am Monday morning, please get in touch” says Detective Shaun Galbraith, Waitakere Police.

The owner normally sells the child-sized quad bikes through Trademe.

The other bikes are sold through retail outlets.

“Whoever has done this is obviously going to try and sell them and we need people to be vigilant.

If you see a bike like this for sale and you suspect it may be stolen, please let us know.

It’s also a warning to anyone who’s offered one of these bikes and buys it, you’re buying stolen property and you run the risk of being criminally charged” says Detective Galbraith.
