MORE FM Fireworks Spectacular 2015

MEDIA RELEASE DATE: 28 September 2015

MORE FM Fireworks Spectacular

South Taranaki, get set for some serious pyrotechnic explosive fun when the More FM Fireworks Spectacular takes place on Saturday 17 October at the Egmont A & P Show Grounds in Hawera.

Gates open at 6.30pm and local band Ghost Chips will be performing until the fireworks start. They will be supported by the Hawera Pipe band who will perform around 7.45pm.

The evening, which always attracts thousands of people, is a real family affair says event organizer Jody Bloor.

“Bouncy castles, face painting, archery tag, merry-go-round, mini ferris wheel, glow sticks and other glowing products will be on offer for the youngsters and the young at heart,” says Jody. “As a result of public feedback we’ve also added some old school games for the kids including three legged, sack and wheelbarrow races. There will also be a variety of stalls to purchase food from such as pizza, nachos, American hotdogs, bbq, coffee, donuts and ice cream. Or families can pack a picnic and enjoy a good old fashioned family night out.”

Jody says as in previous years the fireworks display is choreographed by Van Tiel Pyrotechnics, the company that staged New Zealand’s largest ever display for the Auckland Millennium celebrations. They were also the company responsible for the fireworks at the open of the Rugby World Cup.

“Last year we had over 3000 people attend and it was a great night. We encourage all of Taranaki to come and share this evening of fun with us! It’s going to be an awesome, safe family night out!”

If the weather is unsuitable the event will be on Sunday 18 October.

Residents are reminded to keep pets and animals safe during the evening. As with every year around Guy Fawke’s time, animals can easily get spooked.
