Kapiti Run for Youth open for registration

Kapiti Run for Youth open for registration

“It’s not too late to register and participate in The Web Genius Kapiti Run for Youth (KR4Y) on Sunday 8th November,” says Richard Calkin of Web Genius. We have booked good weather so we are looking forward to a really fun day on the beach raising money for Kapiti youth.

Earlier in September the Committee ran a fundraiser at Coastlands. “We signed up individuals and groups to participate in the event and we raised just over $604 so thanks to everyone who generously donated” says Helene Judge, the Campaign Manager for KR4Y. Early in November Peter Jackson, who has been part of this event since inception and a staunch support of youth in Kapiti will be at Pak ‘n Save Kapiti to achieve sponsorship for his team who will be participating on the day, so look out for them and donating a little goes a long way.

Helene goes on to say that “just before the school holidays we received a late entry fundraising partner – Paraparaumu Beach School. The school PTA is looking forward to getting involved and using the event as a way of fundraising for the school and being part of a community and giving back to Youth Quest.”

Richard says “we are on a mission to raise more than the $21K that we achieved last year so please Kapiti let’s get as many individuals and groups registered to take part.” When you register you choose your fundraising partner – this means 40% of what you raise automatically goes to Youth Quest, 40% goes to your chosen fundraising partner and 20% to event logistics. Registered fundraising partners include Activate Youth, Girl Guiding Kapiti, Kapiti Basketball Association, Kapiti Youth Support, Kenakena School Boys Mentoring Group, No 49 (Kapiti) Squadron Air Training Corps, Paraparaumu Beach School and Paraparaumu Playcentre.

When entering, there are four options to choose from: 12km walk, 6km walk, 12km run and a 6km run taking place between 10am and 1pm. This is a unique community event. Note your calendar now: Sunday 8 November 2015 – go to www.kapitirunforyouth.co.nz to register.
