Aggravated robbery in Kaitaia

Police are seeking witnesses to the aggravated robbery of dairy in Kaitaia on Sunday night.

About 7.30pm two boys, aged 12 and 15 years, entered the North Road Dairy and presented a firearm at the female shopkeeper before leaving with some items from the store.
A member of the public has witnessed the robbery and has assisted police in locating the offenders.

Both boys are facing a charge of aggravated robbery. The 12-year-old, who is also facing charges of assaulting and resisting police, will be appearing in the Kaitaia Youth Court on November 3 and the 15-year-old will be appearing in the same court on December 2.

The female shopkeeper was shaken, but unhurt and is receiving help from Victim Support.

Police are continuing their investigation into the aggravated robbery and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information.
