Heavy Rain Eases in Kapiti

Heavy Rain Eases in Kapiti

The heavy rain has eased. It is likely that river levels in Kāpiti have peaked and will fall over the afternoon.

We have not seen any significant impacts from the king tide.

People are still advised to stay away from rivers (including rivermouths) and streams as they will continue to flow quickly.

The slip on Ōtaki Gorge Road is relatively small and is currently passable for utes. The current estimate is that the road will remain closed to other traffic until later this afternoon.

There is still surface flooding across the district and we continue to advise motorists to take care.

Given the weather conditions, parents should consider meeting their children when school ends at 3pm.
