Crashes lead to arrest - Christchurch - Canterbury

Police have just arrested a man in Sumner after being involved in multiple car crashes across the eastern suburbs.

At about 6.30pm police began receiving reports about a green Holden ute causing a crash in Linwood.

Subsequent reports then began flowing in from the public about the same ute causing crashes as it travelled toward Sumner.

During the crashes the driver has allegedly driven at people who were trying to stop him.

As a result Police are aware of 7 damaged vehicles.

There were no serious injuries however some of victims involved were treated by Ambulance at the scene.

Police subdued the offender with a Taser.

He is now in Police custody to appear in the Christchurch District Court.
