Meet the V8 Supercars champion drivers

Trans-Tasman rivalry motors on this week, right into the heart of Auckland with the V8 Supercars Fan Day at Aotea Square on Thursday 5 November.

Following the sporting battles of the weekend, Australia and New Zealand will continue their Trans-Tasman rivalry this week as the best V8 Supercars drivers from both sides of the Tasman take each other on in the ITM 500 Auckland V8 Supercars at Pukekohe Park.

V8 Supercars fans will be able to get up close to their favourite drivers and teams at the V8 Supercars Fan Day.

A host of American classic muscle cars will assemble on Queens Wharf from 10am, before carrying the V8 Supercars champion drivers up Queen St in convoy, at 11.50am.

The drivers will arrive in Aotea Square at midday, were it will be all go with a range of activities.

Fans will be able meet their favourite drivers, get autographs, get photos with them, and some lucky gamers will get the chance to take on the champion drivers playing the newly released Xbox Forza 6 motorsport racing game. There will also be demonstrations of high-performance radio controlled cars, with some the V8 Supercars drivers taking the controls.

The drivers will be in Aotea Square from midday until 1.15pm; 30 American classic muscle cars will be on display in the square from midday until 3pm, and the activities in Aotea Square – selfie booths, Forza 6 gaming, radio controlled car demonstrations and V8s tickets for sale – will run from 10am until 3pm.

The V8 Supercars Fan Day follows on from the V8 Supercars Drive-in Movie on Saturday. The free events are delivered by Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development, to celebrate the ITM 500 Auckland V8 Supercars, which revs up at Pukekohe Park Raceway from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 November.

The ITM 500 Auckland V8 Supercars is part of the ‘AKL: The Show Never Stops Stellar Spring Line-up’ of events taking place this year. The (2015) event marks the third year of a five-year investment in V8 Supercars by ATEED, on behalf of Auckland Council.
