He faces a number of charges including Wounding with Intent to Cause Grievous Bodily Harm and Breaching a Protection Order in relation to the incident in which a 50 year old Hamilton woman suffered a number of serious injuries from an attack with a sword.
The arrested man will appear in the Hamilton District on Friday the 6th November. Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Patterson of the Hamilton CIB said Police became aware of the man's whereabouts when he was identified by members of the public.
With the assistance of others present he was detained until the arrival of the police. "Working across district with the Counties Manukau police we were able to have staff in the area where we believed the man was this afternoon.
This allowed an immediate response to support the members of the public when they called for police" "I sincerely thank those people for helping police to bring the search of this man to an early conclusion".
