Motorway and Auckland Harbour Bridge lane closures Sunday

Motorway and Auckland Harbour Bridge lane closures this Sunday

Motorists travelling on the Auckland Harbour Bridge and some nearby sections of the city’s motorway network will experience changes this Sunday morning (15 November) for the annual “Bike the Bridge” event.

The two southbound lanes of the bridge (clip-on), along with the Shelly Beach Road off-ramp, will be closed from just after midnight until 10am Sunday.

Three traffic lanes over the Auckland Harbour Bridge in each direction will remain open throughout this period.

Access to SH1 citybound (south) will also be closed at the Onewa Road Interchange.

“The temporary changes mean drivers will be separated from hundreds of cyclists by a line of buses parked in the left-hand lane from Esmonde interchange to the bridge, so everyone needs to be alert and take extra care,” says the Transport Agency’s Acting Highway Manager, Tim Crow.

“The event is timed early in the morning when traffic volumes are light, to reduce the disruption to drivers as much as possible, but delays are still likely and people should allow more time for their journey on Sunday.”

The Northern Busway between Constellation Station and Onewa Interchange will also be closed and there will be some disruption to local bus services. For more information on those visitat.govt.nz/about-us/news-events/events-causing-delays/
