Cheese-making and more at Hollard Gardens

Cheese-making and more at Hollard Gardens

16 November 2015

Opportunities to solve horticultural mysteries and to learn how to make cheese at home are on offer at two free workshops at Hollard Gardens, Kaponga, over the next two weekends.

The cheese workshop has been added to the events calendar after an initial session in October drew an over-capacity audience of 120-plus. This time, would-be participants must register in advance by emailing workshops@trc.govt.nz.

Details of the November workshops are:

• Sunday 22 November, 2pm-4pm: Plant-hunters’ forum. Got a mystery plant in your garden? Bring along a piece or a picture and a panel of experts will try to identify it and offer advice on how to make it thrive.

• Sunday 29 November, 2pm-4pm: Cheese making workshop. Registration is essential – please email your details toworkshops@trc.govt.nz with ‘cheese making’ in the subject line. Workshop participants will learn techniques for success at home with soft cheese and herb cheese recipes. This workshop is aimed squarely at beginners and no special equipment is needed.

The workshops will take place at the Hollard Centre at Hollard Gardens, 1686 Upper Manaia Road, Kaponga. They are part of a year-round programme of free events at Hollard Gardens, Tupare and Pukeiti, the three heritage properties owned and managed by the Taranaki Regional Council on behalf of the people of the region.
