Road works, State Highway 1, South Canterbury

17 November 2015 | NZ Transport Agency - Southern Region

Road works, State Highway 1, South Canterbury, between Arowhenua and Seadown – traffic lights and short delays

Drivers using State Highway 1 between Arowhenua and Seadown (between Temuka and Timaru) should build in a little extra time from this week, 17 November to 11 December and again early in the New Year, after the holiday period.

Road upgrade works will reduce the State Highway 1 to one lane, with traffic lights controlling flows for about five weeks leading into Christmas.

The NZ Transport Agency thanks all drivers for taking care around road crews and also around school buses and other activities in this area.

The road work activity will be daytime based and will benefit drivers over the holiday break.

To keep up-to-date on journey times and potential areas where there may be delays this summer, check the Transport Agency’s Summer Journeys pages and the traffic maps of road work sites.
