SCIRT traffic update: Week starting Monday, 23 November, 2015

Night time closure of Durham St Bridge in Sydenham

• The Durham St Bridge is closing overnight on Wednesday 25 November and Thursday 26 November from 8pm to 5am for earthquake repairs.

• The Durham St Bridge is a busy route with just over 11,000 vehicles a day using it.

• Please use other routes on Wednesday and Thursday between 8pm and 5am.

SCIRT has launched a competition to give away free tickets to Christchurch residents to next January’s SCIRT World Buskers Festival.

SCIRT Executive General Manager, Ian Campbell, says it’s a way the organisation can directly thank the people of Christchurch for their support over the past four years. The entry form is at www.scirt.co.nz.

Wainoni-Breezes – works underway - allow extra travelling time

Works at the intersection of Wainoni Rd and Breezes Rd for about 3 weeks are starting on Wednesday 11 November.

• Wainoni Rd will be one-way eastbound towards New Brighton between Breezes Rd and Portsmouth St.

• City-bound traffic will be detoured into Portsmouth St, Hampshire St and onto Breezes Rd.

• Breezes Rd will be one-way going north between Gosport St and Wainoni Rd.

• Commuters will not be able to turn right from Wainoni Rd into Breezes Rd.

• Commuters will not be able to turn right from the south side of Breezes Rd into Wainoni Rd.

Dyers Pass Rd - works underway- allow extra travelling time

• Parts of Dyers Pass Rd will be one lane with temporary traffic lights for 10 weeks.

• Repairs on a retaining wall on Dyers Pass near Victoria Park Road continue.

• Work on a second retaining wall just south of the Sign of the Kiwi on the Governors Bay side will follow.

Shirley Rd – Short detour for 3 months

Shirley Rd commuters travelling eastwards towards The Palms shopping centre will be detoured through Emmett St, Orontes St and Quinns Rd back onto Shirley Rd.

• Shirley Rd will be one-way westbound between Petrie St and Emmett St during this time.

Main Routes -works underway so expect delays during peak times and consider other routes.

Barbadoes St is one-way southbound between Bealey Ave and Canon St for about 3 weeks. Suggested detour for northbound traffic is Madras St.

Papanui Rd near the Bealey Ave intersection, between Clare Rd and Derby St, has two-way traffic maintained and has bus and cycle lane closures. The restrictions will last about 2 weeks. Please take care around cyclists.

Marshland Rd between 123 Marshland Rd and Hammersley Ave is being resealed. The intersection of Marshland and Joy St will be closed for 2 weeks from Monday 23 November. Please use Pagoda St to enter/exit Joy St.

Ferry Rd has works from Ensors Rd to Osborne St and in front of Manning Place with limited exit/entry into Manning Pl. Expect delays at peak times.

Ferry Rd has work between Dampier and Smith St. Two-way traffic is maintained but expect delays.

Ferry Rd has works between Smith St and Tilford St until about the end of November. Two-way traffic is maintained and there are temporary lane shifts and shoulder closures.

Moorhouse Ave overbridge is down to one lane each way for the duration of the project.

Clyde Rd between Fendalton Rd and Jeffreys Rd from Thursday 19 November for about a week will have a stop/go system. Two-way traffic is maintained.

Deans Ave, near Matai St in Riccarton, from Saturday November 21, will be reduced to one-lane northbound past the work site for about 2 days.

Fendalton - major wastewater works are underway in Holmwood Rd and Garden Rd

Holmwood Rd has returned to one-way westbound.

Garden Rd will close from Tuesday 27 October for wastewater repairs.

Shop owners in Holmwood Rd are grateful for the support of local residents while there are wastewater repairs in the street.

Aranui/Wainoni

Please take extra care around this busy area as SCIRT installs a new resilient vacuum wastewater system for this community. See the Aranui map for bus routes and detours.

Marlow Rd remains one-way from Doreen St to Pages Rd until Friday 20 November.

Rowses Rd is one way from Breezes Rd to Rowan Ave until February 2016.

Yarmouth St is one-way northbound from property 30 to Soberton St for one week.

Orrick Cres is one-way between Wainoni Rd and Cowes St, for northbound traffic, starting 2 November for 5 weeks.

Carisbrooke St is one-way between Winchfield St and the end of the cul-de-sac for about a week.

Hampshire St will have a progressive road closure starting Monday 2 November for 4 weeks.

Farnborough St and Pages Rd intersection is closed for about 4 weeks.

Meon St is one-way going south from Eureka St to Soberton St for 3 weeks and from late November will be closed from 11-56 for road reconstruction for about 3 weeks.

Soberton St is one-way for northbound traffic between Yarmouth and Eureka for about 3 weeks.

Beach Rd, New Brighton – major wastewater works underway

Beach Rd has a progressive road closure. The crew will be sealing the road outside the shops at Bower Ave and will then progress for 3 months towards Effingham St.

• For another week work is underway in the Beach Rd and Bower Ave intersection. The work will move east along Beach Rd away from the roundabout in the week beginning Monday 30 November.

• In the week beginning Monday 23 November the Donnington St and Beach Rd intersection will be closed.

• The closure along Beach Road between Frosts Rd and Ascot Ave will progress over 9 months. Please look out for changes and detours.

Work in other suburbs

Redcliffs

•Moncks Spur has two-way traffic maintained by stop/go personnel during the day. Temporary traffic lights are working at night.

•Glenstrae Rd has retaining wall repairs for about 5 months. Two-way traffic will be maintained using temporary traffic lights.

Mt Pleasant

•Mt Pleasant Rd between numbers 69 and 95 is now one-way to downhill traffic only. Detour via Major Hornbrook Rd or Soleares Ave.

Cashmere

KidsonTce will be one-way heading north from Monday 2 November for about 4 months.

Parklands

Bower Ave between Queenspark Dr and Rue De La Mer in the week starting Monday 23 November will be one-way for southbound traffic while road renewal is underway.

Pegasus Ave is closed between Philomel St and Endeavour St for road renewal until December 2016.

Royalist Ave will be closed from Wednesday 18 November until early 2016.

• The closure of Ascot Ave between properties 9-37 will be uplifted in the coming week.

Lamorna Rd has a progressive road closure for about 4 more weeks between Queenspark Dr and Foresters Cres.

Forrest Dr has a progressive road closure between 55 Forrest Dr and Broadhaven Ave for 3 more weeks.

Queenspark Dr has one-way for northbound traffic and detours for traffic going south.

Foresters Cres and Stoneleigh Green have road closures for about 5 more weeks for Foresters and 2 more weeks for Stoneleigh.

Link Water Way has a road closure from Monday 16 November for about 1 month.

Mairehau Rd will have temporary traffic lights between properties 363-337 for about one week starting Monday 23 November.

Surfers Pl has a road closure until early December.

North New Brighton

Marine Parade is one-way heading south with northbound traffic being detoured into Effingham St for about 2 weeks.

Edgeware / St Albans

Edgeware Rd between Sherborne St and Madras St is one-way eastbound for about 3 months. There’s a short detour to the local Edgeware - St Albans businesses affected by these works.

Bishop St is closed between Edgeware Rd and Canon St from mid-October for about 2 months. Suggested detour is Madras St.

Canon St between Bishop St and Barbadoes St will be one-way for about 4 weeks. Lookout for changing traffic management.

Merivale

Helmores Lane Bridge is closed. Repairs are being redesigned due to more damage being found.

Shirley

Hills Rd (between Guild St and Dudley St) is one-way northbound. Southbound traffic please slow down along the detour, and heavy traffic please take a different route.

Hills Rd between Warden St and 203 Hills has two-way traffic maintained with bus and cycle lane closures from Monday 9 November for about 2 months.

Dudley St is closed from Slater St to Hills Rd until early 2016

Stapletons Rd will be closed between Averill St and Warden St from Monday for about 3 months with only access for residents.

Linwood

Worcester St is closed between Woodham Rd and Dacre St, and is one-way southbound towards Linwood Ave between Dacre St and Linwood Ave.

Woodham Rd is one-way city bound between Kerrs Rd and Gloucester St. Eastbound traffic please follow the detour.

McGregors Rd will have a progressive closure from Monday 16 November until early 2016.

Woolston

Smith St has a progressive road closure until early 2016.

Spreydon

Lyttelton St from Tuesday 24 November will have a one-way system until Christmas, with northbound traffic being detoured along Roberta Dr, Barrington St and Frankleigh St.

Addington

Fairfield Ave is closed between number 80 Fairfield Avenue and Braddon Street for around 4 weeks.

Riccarton, Ilam, Bryndwr

• Crews are working on night shift around these suburbs to CCTV the wastewater main. Two-way traffic will remain.
