Berry 2nd in NBR Poll

BERRY 2ND IN NBR POLL

The National Business Review has been running a poll on its website which asked visitors “Which centre-right candidate would you support for Auckland Mayor?” Affordable Auckland Mayoral candidate Stephen Berry came second out of the three candidates polled.

Xero Managing Director Victoria Crone took out first place in the poll with 70%, while Mr. Berry placed second with 18% beating Orakei Local Board Deputy Chair Mark Thomas who got 12%.

Mr. Berry says “I accept that this is an unscientific internet poll but as I don’t have the profile of Crone or possess Thomas’ media coverage and radio advertising it is a pleasing start.”

This is the first poll since March 2015 that actually features voting for Stephen Berry as an option. The previous poll was by Horizon which showed Berry polling at 1% support but with 50% of respondents unsure about whether they would consider voting for him; higher than for any other candidate.

“I’m sure that with fair and balanced media coverage of my message of housing affordability and keeping rates increases below inflation, that unsure vote will turn into increased support.”

Any number of movie examples come to mind, beginning with Rudolf Valentino’s role (over a century ago) as the romantic Arab hero in The Sheik...
