Top Te Aroha student is Roger Harris scholarship winner for 2015

A top student from Te Aroha has won this year’s $6000 Roger Harris (Waihou Valley Scheme) Scholarship.

Min-Song Kang is currently studying engineering at Auckland University.

The Roger Harris (Waihou Valley Scheme) Scholarship was established in 1995 to mark the substantial completion of the Waihou Valley Scheme and, in particular, to acknowledge the contribution of the late Roger Harris to the successful implementation of that major project.

The scholarship is available to students from the Waihou Piako rating zone area who are undertaking study in the fields of civil engineering or resource management.

Min-Song completed his secondary education at Te Aroha College in 2013 and received the Dux award. He was also active in sports and a range of other areas.

He has just completed his second year at Auckland University studying for a Bachelor of Civil Engineering. In his first year at university he received the Alumni Scholarship and achieved an A+, A, and A- in three of his courses.

Min-Song intends working as an engineer after graduation.
