Police attended an incident in Whakamarama Rd, Whakamarama that happened about 5 pm this afternoon.
A woman victim reported she was assaulted by her partner who then poured petrol through the house.
She managed to leave the address and called police from a different location.
The offender was located just before 6 pm after he too left the address and was stopped by police.
