Level two water restrictions for Akaroa

Level two water restrictions for Akaroa

Level two water restrictions will be introduced in Akaroa on 1 January 2016.

This means Akaroa residents and visitors can only water their gardens using hand-held hoses.

Christchurch City Council City Water and Waste Unit Manager Tim Joyce says the demand on Akaroa's water supply increases as people occupy holiday homes for the summer.

"Akaroa has a limited supply of water because it draws from streams in the area. Weather forecasts indicate we should expect hot, dry conditions to continue over summer. Level two water restrictions are needed so there is a fair supply for everyone," Tim Joyce says.
