Registrations now open for Bike the Trail 2016

The successful Bike the Trail event is on again this year, with registrations now open online.

UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 07 JAN 2016—Join us for the family friendly Bike the Trail on Sunday 28 February 2016. For the seventh year running, Upper Hutt and Hutt City Councils bring you this ever popular FREE family-friendly event. Get a group together and enjoy an easy, scenic bike ride down the Hutt River Trail from Upper Hutt’s Harcourt Park to Hikoikoi Reserve, Petone. Try the 2½ hour ride covering 25 km or the 1 hour 12 km ride from Eastern Hutt Road in Stokes Valley. Both rides start at 10.00 am, with riders setting off in groups of 50 to avoid congestion.

Activation Team Leader of Upper Hutt City Council Ellie Davidson says “This is a wonderful family summer event for children and adults alike. The trail is flat and easy to bike. If you haven’t tried it already it’s a must! Bike the Trail is free, it’s organised and so much fun!”

The ride will conclude at Hikoikoi Reserve, where food vendors will be to re-fuel hungry bikers. Enjoy the afternoon with music, giveaways, and fun for the whole family. Free return transport to Stokes Valley or Upper Hutt will be available from 1.00 pm until 3.00 pm. This year we will have more return transport available due to the large demand in 2015.

Registrations for this event are now open. People are encouraged to pre-register online at www.bikethetrail.co.nz to avoid the queues on event day. There is also other information available on the Bike the Trail website, including how to rent a bike, information about return transport and more.

Bike the Trails is an event run in partnership by Upper Hutt City Council, Hutt City Council, and Greater Wellington Regional Council.
