Wellington Conservation Board Releases Annual Report
Wellington Conservation Board Releases Annual Report
13 January 2015
The Wellington Conservation Board has released its annual report for the 2014 – 15 year. This report is the first since the Board was re-established in March 2014 following the national Conservation Board review in 2013.
There are 14 Conservation Boards based regionally throughout New Zealand. Each Board is tasked with representing the voice of the community when advising the Department on its work and conservation in general.
The Annual Report features specific work undertaken by the Board in the past financial year, including the review of the Wellington Conservation Management Strategy (CMS).
Current Chair Don Adams said “We’ve made a lot of progress since being re-established. In the past few months particularly, the Board has made a strong contribution to the CMS review by working with the Department to lay groundwork for a 50 year vision of conservation in the Wellington Region, following public submissions earlier this year.”
The next meeting of the Wellington Conservation Board will be held on the Kapiti Coast on 19-20 February 2016.
