Mangere assault being investigated

Friday, 15 January 2016 - 3:25pm

Counties Manukau

Counties Manukau Police are investigating after a female was assaulted in Mangere on Wednesday evening (13 January 2016).

The victim was followed by a male over a prolonged period of time including on a train between Britomart and Middlemore Hospital and he has then grabbed her from behind as she walked home from Middlemore Station at around 10:30pm. A short struggle has taken place and she has managed to escape.

Police are now seeking the public’s assistance to identify the male in the CCTV images who we believe can assist us with our enquiries.

He is described as a male Polynesian, approximately 30 years of age, 185cm tall and of a large build. He was wearing a blue and white striped shirt and blue jeans.

He is believed to live in the Mangere area but may have links to the Newmarket / Remuera areas.

If you have information as to the identity of this person then please contact the Counties Manukau Crime Squad on (09) 261 1321 or you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
