Police appeal for public to help locate run away

Canterbury Police are urging 11 year old Andre Benjamin Moka or anyone who knows where he is to contact Police or a member of his family.

Senior Constable Andrew MacFarlane says Andre, who is understood to be posting on his Facebook page, ran away from home in Waipara last Friday (22 January 2016). “He was seen at the Palms Mall on Saturday (23 January 2016) but the person who saw him didn’t realise he had run away from home. A family member saw him at Northlands Mall yesterday but Andre ran away when they tried to approach him.”

While Andre appears to be using social media Police need to verify that he is safe.

“At this stage Police do not know whether Andre is staying at a friend’s house or living rough and this in itself causes concern for his safety” explains Senior Constable MacFarlane.

If Andre is staying with you, or you know where he is, please call the Canterbury Police District Youth Aid team on 03 363 7400.

Information can also be provided anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-nz.org.
