Celebrity Event to Celebrate Women in Business


Kapiti Coast, Tuesday 2nd February 2016 - Kapiti will welcome six New Zealand celebrities for a panel debate in celebration of International Women's Day 2016.

The upcoming event, titled “Is it all in the genes?” jointly hosted by The Kapiti Coast Chamber of Commerce and The Kapiti Rotary Club aims to raise awareness of gender equality and highlight women’s role in business and within society.

“The panel discussion aims to be a lighthearted, fun and provocative debate which will get the business community thinking about our local women in business. We’re pleased to be able to have some big names joining the discussion and are looking forward to hosting this event,” says Liz Koh, Kapiti Coast Chamber of Commerce Chair.

MCing the event will be Radio New Zealand National host, Wallace Chapman, with celebrity panel contributors including: former Wellington mayor, Kerry Prendergast; CEO & founder of PledgeMe, Anna Guenther; RNZAF Helicopter Crewman & former Miss Manawatu, Louise Nelson; former MP & politician and Kapiti Rotary Club President Roger Sowry; Rotary District Governor, Simon Manning; sports commentator, John McBeth.

Kapiti Rotary President, Roger Sowry says this event will be a first of it’s kind for Kapiti.

“This is an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the role of women in business and the community and provide inspiration and motivation for young women to succeed, which the Rotary Club is proud to be hosting, “ says Roger Sowry, Kapiti Rotary Club president.

The lunch event will coincide with international women's day on Tuesday 8th March, taking place from 12-2pm at Southwards Car Museum. All welcome, tickets are $47 per person, or $450 for a table of 10. Bookings are essential. A portion of the ticket price will be donated to Kapiti Youth Services.
