Shots fired at Police patrol - Manurewa - Counties Manukau

Counties Manukau Police are looking the occupants of a white Nissan Sunny car after a police patrol was shot at early this morning. At about 3:50 am a police patrol signaled the car to stop after it was seen acting in a suspicious manner in Friedlanders Road Manurewa. It failed to stop and a passenger leaned out off the car and fired two shots from a firearm at the police The police patrol followed the Nissan to Winsford Street in Manurewa before abandoning the pursuit when two more shots were fired. Several shots hit the police vehicle, but no one was injured. Neither the Nissan or it's occupants have been located and Counties Manukau CIB are investigating the incident. No further information is available and any additional media comment will be made by the Counties Manukau Police Communications Manager later in the day.
