Murder charge after death in Whangarei
Police have charged a 48-year-old man with murder following the death of a man north of Whangarei last night.
About 6.30pm police were called to a Church Road address at Ngararatunua where the body of a 61-year-old man was located.
Cordons
were placed at each end of the road and the Armed Offenders
Squad was called.
The offender was taken into custody without incident.
He will be appearing on a murder charge in the Whangarei District Court today.
About 16 staff are working on the case and they are being assisted by the ESR.
Police are also talking to a number of
witnesses.
A post mortem of the body will be carried out
in Auckland
tomorrow.
