Diversion for Victoria Park Tunnel traffic

Diversion for Victoria Park Tunnel traffic

The Victoria Park Tunnel (State Highway 1) will be closed to all traffic for several nights next week while important maintenance and safety work is carried out.

The NZ Transport Agency says traffic which usually uses the tunnel will still be able to move through the city via a diversion route from Nelson Street to the SH1 on ramp at Fanshawe Street.

The closures from approximately half past ten at night until 5 o’clock in the morning have been timed to coincide with the lightest traffic volumes to minimise disruption to drivers.

The maintenance and safety work which includes equipment testing, is essential to keep the tunnels operating safely for all road users.

· Victoria Park Tunnel closed from 22.30 – 0500 Monday 14 February to Thursday 19 February and again on Sunday 21 February

· Diversions in place from Nelson Street to the SH1 on ramp at Fanshawe Street
