Sky Tower to be lit for Prince's purple reign

Sky Tower to be lit for Prince's purple reign

For the thousands of ticket-holding fans, and the many more that missed out, the Sky Tower will tonight shine purple in recognition of Prince’s first live shows in New Zealand.

A cultural icon and major figure in popular music, Prince is known for his eclectic tunes and impressive vocal range. Many Kiwis will have played air guitar or taken on a karaoke version of one of his most well known songs, Purple Rain.

Fans will party like it’s 1999 at two sold out shows at ASB Theatre.

The Sky Tower is the southern hemisphere’s tallest man-made structure based in the heart of Auckland, and is one of New Zealand’s most recognisable landmarks.

SKYCITY lights the Sky Tower for charities or community initiatives that we support financially, or to mark national holidays, milestones or other celebrations or events.
