Kapiti Food Fair Feeds Donation to Kapiti Rotary

Kapiti Food Fair Feeds Donation to Kapiti Rotary

The owners of the Kapiti Food Fair are super excited to have made a donation of $7,182.17 to the Kapiti Rotary Club Charitable Trust. “Rotary will now use that money to feed back in to community recipients including the Kapiti Food Bank, Kapiti Youth Support and Youth Quest,” says Roger Sowry, President of the Kapiti Rotary Club. Roger goes on to say that “the Club was really pleased to be involved with the Fair and is currently reviewing its ongoing involvement in a positive light.”

This year the Fair saw change with entry being free for those up to 18 and $5 per adult. “Being able to make this donation is very satisfying as we like to think the Fair is truly anchored in to the Kapiti community in a sustainable way, says Fair spokesperson, Helene Judge.

Helene goes on to say, that “work behind the scenes to run the 2016 Fair is humming along with sponsorship proposals out, the first vendor campaign ready to go and the celebrity chef negotiations nearly ready to announce. It’s a busy time putting these building blocks together yet necessary as it then offers the Fair a solid foundation to work off.”

Last year was the biggest Fair in its six-year history with 139 sites and 6,366 visitors. “Our visitor target was 10,000 yet we were very happy with the end result as when you look at the numbers 53% were Kapiti and Horowhenua locals and excitingly, 47% were visitors to Kapiti.” We are now working on how we can build on this for 2016 year while sticking to our mantra of all sites being New Zealand manufactured food & beverage products, ready to eat foods and other food & beverage related products.

Note your calendar now: Saturday 3 December, 10am to 3pm, Mazengarb Reserve. To view all images and film footage of the 2015 Fair, go to our Facebook page www.facebook.com/pages/Kapiti-Food-Fair or our web site www.kapitifoodfair.net
