Get your music into the Library’s nooks & crannies

Dunedin (Friday, 14 March 2016) – Dunedin Public Libraries and DunedinMusic.com are putting out a call for local musicians to partake in the first ever full-day Nook & Cranny Music Festival at City Library on Sunday, 1 May for NZ Music Month.

The festival will see multiple performers, with diverse music styles, creating music all over the Library – on stages, on tables, and in ‘nooks & crannies’ among the books. In between the music, there’ll also be talks by local musicians and songwriters and a singing workshop for kids followed by their live performances on stage.

“We’re planning to get a local radio station to camp out at the Library and do a live broadcast of all the great Dunedin music, which will be playing on the day,” says the Libraries’ Events Coordinator, Kay Mercer.

Dunedin bands and singer/songwriters who want to be part of the festival are invited to register their act via the Libraries’ Music Month web page.

“The only stipulation is that they play original music or New Zealand songs,” says festival co-organiser, Brendan Christie, of DunedinMusic.com

“This festival is their chance to reach a new and wider audience for their music.”
