Committee considers alcohol licensing, freshwater and CAB funding.

The following is a digest of decisions made.

The agenda is available on Auckland Council’s website and minutes will be added once confirmed. This meeting was also webcast on the council’s website and items are available on demand.

Items 1-8 are administrative items, excluding petitions, public input and local board input which is summarised below. Items 14-16 were approved without debate and there were no extraordinary items.

Item 4: Petitions

Kane Titchener from Fluoride Free NZ presented a petition on fluoridation of water in townships in the Franklin ward.

Item 5: Public Input

Ms Robin Houlker presented to the committee on the potential revocation of reserve land at 49 Nihill Crescent and the community’s interest in this reserve land.

Item 6: Local Board Input

Chair Lydia Sosene and Deputy Chair Carrol Elliot from the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board spoke to items 10 and 11.

Item 9: Reserve revocation and disposal recommendation report

The committee approved the revocation of the reserve status and disposal of the portion of 49 Nihill Crescent in Mission Bay and of 12R Birdwood Avenue, Papatoetoe. Both are subject to the conclusion of any required statutory processes.

Item 10: Auckland Citizens Advice Bureaux Incorporated Funding for 2016-2018

The committee approved the funding of $1.796 million on an annual basis for Auckland Citizens Advice Bureaux Incorporated for 2016-2018. The committee noted the provision for this is included in the LTP 2015-2025.

Item 11: District Licensing Committee (DLC) recruitment process

The DLC pool comprises 11 chair persons and 20 members across the Auckland region. They are contracted by Auckland Council but are independent and make decisions on alcohol licence applications. The committee agreed to extend the current chairs and members to mid-2017 and that a preferred appointment process included forming a selection panel comprising councillors who are members of the Hearing and Regulatory and Bylaws committee, an IMSB member and council staff.

Item 12: Auckland Council Submission on the Freshwater Reforms 2016, Next Steps for Freshwater Consultation Document

The committee approved Auckland Council’s submission in response to government’s consultation on freshwater reforms.

Item 13: Regional Strategy and Policy Committee Work Programme 2015/2016 – April Update

The committee approved the Regional Strategy and Policy Committee forward work programme update.
